The Knitting Room’s objective is to craft environmentally friendly and health promoting knitwear that reflects the quality, versatility and durability of British wool.
We are therefore proud to offer you our new range of machine wash and dryable hand-knit wear for infants and children. We use wool from the best sheep in the world—British native breeds. It is then processed in Yorkshire, a county that has been renown as the wool capital of the world. Our wool has been specially processed, then spun by experts who are skilled in working with British wools.
We take great care in the handcrafting of our knitwear, having over 500 years of collective knitting experience amongst our members. Our ethos is well-being and promotes British wool as one of the healthiest and environmentally friendly fibres available today. It is also naturally fire retardant. Wool as a fibre does not break down like synthetic fibres do. Synthetic fibres produce harmful invisible microfibres. Studies demonstrate that using wool in coverlets, hats and bedding produce a better rate of growth and sleep in people, from premature infants to adults.
